Leicester City weighing up transfer move for Swansea City star

Swansea City forward Joel Piroe is being tracked by Leicester City ahead of the summer transfer window, according to Dutch outlet Voetbal International.

It is understood that if Piroe seals a move to the King Power Stadium, his former side PSV Eindhoven will recuperate a fee as they included a sell-on clause in last year’s agreement with the Jacks.

Since making the switch to Wales, Piroe has produced a host of impressive performances for the club in the Championship.

During the 39 league games that the forward has featured in for Swansea, he has managed to find the back of the net on 18 occasions whilst he has also chipped in with four assists for his team-mates.

Only Aleksandar Mitrovic, Dominic Solanke, Ben Brereton Diaz and Andreas Weimann have scored more goals than Piroe in the second-tier this season.

The forward’s latest efforts came during Swansea’s clash with Derby County last weekend.

Thanks to Piroe’s brace in this fixture, the Jacks managed to seal a 2-1 victory over the Rams at the Swansea.com Stadium.

Piroe will be looking to build upon this latest display when his side take on Barnsley on Friday.

A win for Swansea in this fixture could allow them to move into the top-half of the Championship standings depending on the outcome of results elsewhere.

The Verdict

When you consider that Piroe has emerged as a key player for Swansea this season, it is hardly surprising that he is seemingly attracting interest from the Premier League.

However, with his current deal set to run until 2024, the Jacks will be in no rush to sell him this summer.

Therefore, Leicester may have to submit a significant offer for Piroe in order to convince Swansea to part ways with the forward.
