Leicester City U23 player ratings vs Derby County - Brunt & Alves shine as young Foxes beat Rams

Leicester City under-23s beat Derby County at the King Power Stadium on Friday afternoon in front of a healthy bank holiday crowd.

Goals from Shane Flynn and substitute Tawanda Maswanhise earned the young Foxes a deserved win in Premier League 2 action. There were standout performances from Lewis Brunt and Will Alves for Leicester, with Maswanhise perhaps the brightest spark from the bench.

It was an impressive display from the youngsters, who are back in action as soon as Monday night when they welcome Blackburn Rovers at the King Power Stadium. Below is a look at how we rated the players against Derby.

- The former Hartlepool man didn't have a great deal to do, but was reliable as ever when called upon.

- Still playing with composure and maturity above his years. Good positional awareness and sniffs out the danger well.

- The former Villa man keeps the young City defence ticking with his leadership and physicality. Knows when to get forward too.

- Looked solid at the back but was not threatened too much. The quietest of the three central defenders.

- Another solid game for the youngster who is really impressing since stepping up to under-23 level.

- Took the game by the scruff of the neck more than he has done of late. Looks a threat when he gets into more attacking positions but not so much from deep. Had a decent game.

- Looked lively and willing to press but failed to make much happen on the ball. A couple of promising moments but none more than that.

- Created magic out of nothing on several occasions. Picks the ball up deep, turns on a sixpence to get away from his man and the play opens up in front of him. Can spread them out wide or pick out lovely through balls. Got several shots off but couldn't
