Leicester City player ratings v Tottenham: Ayoze Perez and Patson Daka sum up performance

Leicester City's second-string fell to a 3-1 defeat at Tottenham Hotspur in a match where the focus was clearly on a Europa Conference League semi-final second leg in Rome.

City made eight changes and the fans chanted about trips to Albania, with this match a distraction from the European campaign. It showed on the pitch in the second half as Son Heung-min bagged twice to seal victory for the hosts.

The rotated City side played well in the first half, Patson Daka hitting the post in one of their many half-chances, but they fell behind when Harry Kane headed in from a corner. Spurs dominated the second period, but Kelechi Iheanacho's late strike gave City something to show for the afternoon. Here's how we scored the players.

He bailed out Mendy with sharp goalkeeping, diving at Kane’s feet, but then nearly gave up a goal himself when he came for a cross and missed it completely. He didn’t get close to the three goals.

Back in after his dizzy spell on Thursday, he was City’s most alert defending, picking off passes when they played into the feet of Spurs’ attackers, and crucially intercepting in the box during a calamity moment in the first half. As always, he was good throughout.

Generally, his defending was good, the Ghanaian positioning himself in the right spots to at least lessen the danger, while he pressed Kane well to limit his impact in open play. But crucially, he lost Kane at the corner to allow him a free header, and that’s not a mistake that can be made.
