Leicester City star highlights 'extra pleasing' moment in Man United draw

Kelechi Iheanacho says he was "happy" to return to scoring goals in Leicester City's 1-1 draw against Manchester United at Old Trafford in the Premier League.

The Foxes shared the spoils against the Red Devils in the absence of Jamie Vardy, being absent with a knee injury he sustained last month. Iheanacho struck just shortly after the hour mark, before the hosts provided a prompt response through Fred.

The Nigeria international could have added an assist to his name however, but referee Andre Marriner ruled out James Maddison's goal for a foul in the build up. Nonetheless, Brendan Rodgers' men are now placed above their Midlands neighbours Aston Villa into ninth place on 37 points.

The 25-year-old now has three goals and five assists in his 20 Premier League outings this campaign. He admitted it was "extra pleasing" to score against an ex-rival being a former Manchester City player.

"Dewsbury-Hall made a great tackle to win the ball and he gave it straight to Madders," Iheanacho told LCFC TV. "I was just anticipating that he was going to whip it in and I was in the right place at the right time and I got my head onto it.

[As a former Man City player], it's extra pleasing, I'm happy to get a goal against them.

"I'm now a Leicester City player so I'm happy and hopefully there's more to come. It's always good to celebrate with the fans. To celebrate with them is enjoyable so I'm happy."

On the performance put in by his side, he added: "It was a good performance from us. It wasn't that good in the first half, but we were okay building up from the back.
