Leicester City star could make surprise injury return at Chelsea amid Youri Tielemans concern

Ricardo Pereira could make a surprise return to the Leicester City squad for the trip to Chelsea but Youri Tielemans is a doubt for the game.

The Portuguese right-back, who last played in the defeat at Roma, had previously been ruled out for the season by Brendan Rodgers because of hamstring issues. However, he is now back in training.

Tielemans, meanwhile, was involved in a clash of knees in the 5-1 victory over Watford and that may keep him out of the trip to Stamford Bridge. Elsewhere Hamza Choudhury has a groin tear that will keep him from featuring, but Papy Mendy is well again after sickness forced him off at half-time during the win at Vicarage Road. Wilfred Ndidi and Ryan Bertrand remain out.

“Papy Mendy should be back in. We had to take him off with illness and we’ll see how Ricardo Pereira is in training and if he’s available.”

Rodgers also confirmed that his goalkeeper selection plan would remain in place, with Kasper Schmeichel returning for the final two games of the campaign. Danny Ward made his first Premier League appearance in four years at City at the weekend, with Rodgers feeling the Welshman needed an opportunity “for the health of the group”.

But the plan was always for Schmeichel to captain the side in the final week. City host Southampton
