Leicester City seek new appointment that could save them millions in the transfer market

Leicester City are seeking a new loans manager as they look to provide their promising talents with the best opportunities to develop in the senior game.

City are looking to make an appointment after the departure of Guy Branston. He had held the role for more than three years before his exit in March, the former centre-back leaving to become a football agent.

The club's recent successes have shown how important a role it is, with Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall the most obvious example. His impact for the club over the past few months is largely because of his exposure to regular first-team football with Blackpool and then Luton.

Harvey Barnes enjoyed effective loan spells with MK Dons, Barnsley, and then West Brom before his promotion too. Both of those players helped save the club splashing big money in the transfer market to bring in players of their quality.

The task for City now is to help prepare more of their gifted prospects for the first team, and so they need a loans manager who can ensure they find the right club for players to aid their development. After that, the loans manager’s job will be to support the youngsters during their season away.

The advert for the job, which closes on May 4, reads: “Working closely with the director of football and under-23 staff, the successful post-holder will support the identification of loan opportunities through an in-depth analysis of football league clubs and their own network of individuals across the football landscape.

“Taking into consideration the best interests of the young players’ development, whilst out on loan, the role will provide a comprehensive package of support to assist the player navigate the challenges of being on loan, living away from home and the academy
