Leicester City 'headline' transfer race for Tottenham defender to kick off summer revamp
Leicester City "headline" the transfer interest in Tottenham defender Cameron Carter-Vickers.
The Tottenham defender has caught the eye while on loan at Scottish Premiership giants Celtic.
He has made 33 appearances north of the border this season and is now attracting suitors from the Premier League and Championship.
According to American outlet SBI Soccer, Wolves, Watford and Bournemouth are also interested in the 24-year-old.
Carter-Vickers, who has eight caps for the United States, made the play-offs with Bournemouth last season and will be hoping to progress further in the English game.
City boss Brendan Rodgers may have been looking at his former club this season to start planning the summer refresh he is planning for his squad.
“You might be looking up to five or six players,” Rodgers said when asked what a refresh might look like. “It’s only natural. We are nearly at the end of a cycle of working for three years together. By the time we get to the summer, it will be three-and-a-half years.
“You need to reintroduce more hunger to the team, more quality to the team. If we’re going to compete, we have to do that, that’s the reality.
“You can’t continue with the same players season after season. For the players themselves, they need competition.
"Competition is a great coach for a player. If they have someone who can come and take their place, then that raises their levels.
“For us to progress, that’s something we most definitely have to do. To compete with the teams that are going to be challenging at the higher end of the league, that’s what you have to do.”
