Legendary nightclub launches 'only over-50s night in the North West'

Think clubbing is a young person's game? One venue is hoping to change all that, with an event billed as the North West's only over-50s night.

Rosies, a legendary nightclub down the M56 in Chester, is hoping to pull in a more experienced crowd as it launches The Flashback on Thursday, January 25. Organisers are promising a 'nostalgic evening filled with the greatest hits from the 60s, 70s and 80s'.

Rosies, which was named Quaintways until 1993, says it will be the only over-50s night being offered by a nightclub in the North West. Organisers are targeting punters from across the region, and if it is successful it could become a regular event, Cheshire Live reports.

It was the idea of Celia Hughes, a member of the public who contacted Rosies to suggest an over-50s night. She said: "Lots of people remember with great fondness dancing the night away in Quaintways over the decades.

"There are few events specifically targeting people over 50 - it’s fantastic that Rosies have taken on my suggestion with such enthusiasm. Many friendships and romances started off on the dance floors of Quaintways.”

The Cheshire club once played host to music icons including Fleetwood Mac, Thin Lizzy, The Sex Pistols, Status Quo and Judas Priest. Ticket website Fatsoma describes The Flashback as an 'epic throwback party'.

It says: "Put on your dancing shoes, dress up in your favourite throwback attire, and show off your best retro moves on the dance floor. It's time to relive the good old days and have a blast with fellow music-loving over 50s."
