Leeds 'working on' Deadline Day deal for 'perfect' £25m attacker at Elland Road

Leeds United are working on a deal for Wolverhampton Wanderers forward Hwang Hee-chan, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

Leeds’ interest in the South Korean international is no great secret, with manager Jesse Marsch openly admitting Hwang is an option on the club’s radar.

As quoted by Leeds Live, he said recently: “I know Hee-chan very well. I like Hee-chan. He knows our football. I can tell you he’s been on our list from the beginning.”

And the Whites’ pursuit of the Wolves man could now escalate with one of their own attacking options set to leave the club.

Wales winger Dan James is set to join Fulham on loan, according to Fabrizio Romano.

At the same time, Patrick Bamford’s injury problems are well known, while fellow forward Rodrigo suffered a dislocated shoulder in Leeds’ last Premier League game, so the Yorkshire club’s need for another strike option is pretty clear.

Speaking to GiveMeSport, transfer insider Jones confirmed that Leeds are working on a deal to sign Hwang from Wolves.

He said: “Jesse Marsch has admitted himself that Hwang is on their radar. He’s the perfect profile for them, it would be a really good move for him and the club I think. So that’s definitely one that’s still being worked on.”

Marsch and Hwang have history together.

The South Korean worked under Marsch during his final season at Red Bull Salzburg, where they won the Austrian title together.

They then linked up again very briefly at RB Leipzig, before Hwang went out on loan to Wolves, who eventually signed him in a permanent deal.
