Leeds United transfer rumours as Whites suffer Arnaud Kalimuendo blow and Sekou Mara approach

Here are your latest transfer rumours for Sunday, July 17.

Leeds have suffered a fresh blow in their pursuit of Paris Saint-Germain’s Arnaud Kalimuendo, according to CBS Sports journalist Ben Jacobs, with the forward ‘doing all he can’ to stay in Paris.

The 20-year-old has spent the last two seasons on loan at RC Lens, scoring 21 goals in 65 games across all competitions. His departure from Paris was thought to be all but guaranteed following the French champions signing of Hugo Ekitike.

But Jacobs tweeted suggesting the France under-21 international is desperate to prove himself to new manager Christophe Gaultier.

He tweeted: “Leeds remain very interested in Arnaud Kalimuendo but a deal is not a given even with Hugo Ekitike’s arrival in Paris. Told Kalimuendo has impressed Galtier. He’s in the squad for the Japan pre-season tour and doing all he can to stay in Paris.”

Leeds have approached Bordeaux to enquire about their teenage forward Sekou Mara, according to the Mail on Sunday, amid further interest from a host of Premier League and European clubs.

The 19-year-old featured 26 times for the French outfit, scoring six times as his side finished bottom - eventually being relegated to the third-tier due to financial problems. Those problems will likely see an exodus of the club’s young talent, with Mara top of several suitors’ lists.

The Frenchman impressed at this year’s Toulon Tournament - widely regarded as the platform for future stars - top-scoring with five goals in five games as France under-20s won.

Newcastle United are ready to make a formal approach for Jack Harrison, according to a report in the Northern Echo , amid growing concern around West Yorkshire that the winger could leave.
