Leeds United star releases apology for what he did at full-time after Aston Villa draw

Aston Villa and Leeds United played out a thrilling 3-3 draw at Villa Park on Wednesday night.

Steven Gerrard admitted that his players 'gave a lot to the game' and will consider making alterations to his starting XI for the trip to Newcastle at the weekend after a taxing performance against an intense Leeds side.

Villa players were visibly disappointed after the full-time time whistle to have thrown away a two-goal lead at one stage in the game as Philippe Coutinho and Jacob Ramsey combined to devastating effect in the first half.

But Leeds scored two more goals after falling 3-1 behind in the closing minutes of the first period to salvage a point from the match.

Villa centre-back Ezri Konsa was also shown a red card for a second bookable offence in the closing stages of the game and the visors thoughts they might have been able to snatch all three points from thereon.

Leeds forward Rodrigo was particularly annoyed in the final stages and looked to have lost his temper when he picked up a yellow card for booting the ball into the crowd after referee Jarred Gillett blew for a Villa free-kick.

And when the full-time whistle went, Rodrigo headed straight to the changing room as his team-mates approached the away support.

Rodrigo was challenged over his failure to applaud the Leeds fans on Instagram and responded with an apology.

"Sorry my friend," he replied

"Really upset with the result. Thanks very much for the effort and support you have all done through this whole season. I promise that next time I'll do the right thing."
