Leeds United face unwanted headache from ominous rivals in pursuit of Marc Roca
Leeds United are reportedly facing a potential transfer battle with Barcelona for the services of Bayern Munich midfielder Marc Roca.
Bayern clearly wanted to put Roca’s talents to good use, given they signed him for £8.1million from Espanyol. The midfielder had racked up 121 appearances in four seasons in Spain.
However, his career has not quite taken shape the way he, or Bayern would have wanted. Roca has made just 24 appearances for the German giants in two seasons at the club.
Given he is yet to make his mark at Bayern, a move to pastures new may be on the cards.
Indeed, Leeds United have been linked with a move recently. The Whites reportedly want to add depth in central midfield, where they have struggled with injuries over the past season.
Those reports have also stated that £10million should be enough to take Roca to Elland Road.
However, the transfer may not run quite as smoothly as Leeds hope. BILD reports that there are a handful of clubs that also have their eye on the Spaniard.
One of the clubs in question is European powerhouse Barcelona.
Leeds are already facing competition from Barca for their star man Raphinha.
The headache they are receiving from the Spanish side could continue, should they too pursue Roca, as reported.
Despite competition from Barcelona, Leeds could still have the edge for Roca.
The Whites are likely able to offer the 25-year-old a regular place in the midfield. Considering the side’s poor form and injury troubles last season, it would not take a lot for someone to come in and make the position their own.
