Leeds United braced for bids for trio, as timeline on Kalvin Phillips’ future emerges
Leeds United are braced for bids for three of their stars this summer, but Kalvin Phillips has signalled his intention to sign a new deal at Elland Road, claims a report.
Phillips is attracting plenty of interest, despite being sidelined with a hamstring strain since early December. His presence has been a big miss for Leeds, who have also changed managers in that spell.
Phillips, 26, did play for 26 minutes as a sub in the draw with Southampton on Saturday. And the England man is in line to face Watford on Saturday.
It’s likely that a number of scouts will be booked in to watch the player, who remains under contract until 2024.
There is no rush from Leeds to get Phillips tied down with Premier League survival their sole thought at this time. But with that mission on course the club will have one eye on a long-term deal for the midfielder.
And according to the Daily Mail, Phillips has “told the club he is willing to extend his stay at Elland Road”.
But his future is unlikely to be hammered out until June with Phillips in the process of changing agents.
Kevin Sharp currently represents Phillips, but that deal is set to come to an end in June. And with that going on Phillips is unlikely to extend his contract until his new representative is in place.
