Leeds pair Zane Tetevano & Harry Newman learn fate at tribunal

Leeds Rhinos forward Zane Tetevano has been given a five-match suspension following a disciplinary tribunal.

Tetevano was sent off during Leeds’ 42-12 defeat at St Helens on Thursday after a high tackle on Konrad Hurrell in the closing stages of the match.

He was sent off by referee Tom Grant at the time, as Leeds finished the match with three cards. James Bentley and Bodene Thompson were also sin-binned.

Bentley was not banned for his professional foul, while Thompson was given a two-match penalty notice for a trip. Thompson has accepted his ban.

Tetevano pleaded guilty to the charge of a High Tackle. He was also fined £500.

Rhinos centre Harry Newman has seen his ban increased from two games to three for a frivolous appeal.

Newman was charged with Showing Aggressive Behaviour towards a Match Official, as he protested to the referee Grant, following Alex Walmsley’s try.

The England international pleaded not guilty to the charge. However, the panel decided to uphold the findings of the Match Review Panel.

Newman was also given an extra game as a result of the frivolous appeal.  Like his teammate Tetevano, he was also fined £500.
