Nottingham Forest agree fees to sign Huddersfield Town pair

Nottingham Forest are taking their summer spending over £70m after striking deals with Huddersfield for Lewis O’Brien and Harry Toffolo.

O’Brien, the midfielder, and left-back Toffolo will have medicals on Monday as Forest’s drastic recruitment drive continues.

Forest have agreed a double deal with the Championship club worth just under £10m for both players, before add-ons and various instalments.

O’Brien and Toffolo both faced Forest in last season’s play-off final, with Steve Cooper’s side ending the club’s 23-year exile from the Premier League with a 1-0 victory.

Forest have already signed Taiwo Awoniyi, Dean Henderson, Neco Williams, Omar Richards, Wayne Hennessey and Giulian Biancone since ending their long exile from the Premier League.

Cooper is also working on other signings, with Wolves's attacking midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White one of his top targets.

Gibbs-White, the England Under-21 international, could cost around £25m and is also wanted by Everton, while he has a new contract offer on the table at Wolves.

Despite the impending arrival of O’Brien, Forest are prioritising new midfielders and are scouring Europe for potential signings.

Forest are also targeting a right-back and a striker. Aston Villa forward Keinan Davis, who impressed on loan at the City Ground last season, is on Forest’s list and they are also playing a waiting game on Manchester United midfielder James Garner.

Forest would need to buy Garner after already bringing in Henderson from United on a season’s loan.
