Leeds now 'keeping tabs' on 18 y/o Champions League star at Elland Road

Leeds United are ‘keeping tabs’ on Leon King and may look to lure the Rangers talent to Elland Road, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke.

Whites boss Jesse Marsch spent close to £100million bolstering his squad during the summer transfer window, but he will be given another opportunity to welcome fresh faces to the club at the turn of the year.

King is enjoying a breakthrough season, with more than half of his Rangers appearances coming since the 2022/23 campaign got underway.

It seems the central defender’s performances have not gone unnoticed as, according to Fabrizio Romano, Leeds are one of three Premier League clubs to have sent scouts to watch him in action.

The respected Italian journalist suggests Manchester United and Newcastle United are also monitoring King, who won his first Scotland under-21 cap earlier this year.

Having come on as a substitute against Ajax and Napoli, Rangers boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst handed the 18-year-old his maiden Champions League start as his current employers suffered a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Liverpool last week.

Over the course of the Gers' first three group stage clashes in the competition, King averaged 2.7 tackles, 1.3 interceptions, 2.3 clearances and won 3.7 duels at a success rate of 50 per cent.

O'Rourke understands that King is highly-rated at Rangers and he is now reaping the rewards at Ibrox.

The journalist is aware the teenager has been gaining interest from Premier League sides, including Leeds.
