Leeds: Jesse Marsch sees exciting £21m star as 'catalyst' at Elland Road

Leeds United are unlikely to sign another big-money winger as Luis Sinisterra is expected to be a key ‘catalyst’ at Elland Road this season, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

Whites boss Jesse Marsch has already spent close to £100million on new recruits during the summer window, but he could draft in further fresh faces ahead of the September 1 deadline.

Among Leeds’ biggest pieces of business during the transfer window has been completing the £21million signing of Sinisterra from Dutch side Feyenoord.

The Whites made their move for the Colombian after it became clear that fellow wide-man Raphinha was set to leave Yorkshire, with the Brazilian eventually going on to complete a £55million switch to La Liga giants Barcelona.

However, Sinisterra’s Leeds career got off to the worst possible start as he suffered a hamstring injury during a pre-season friendly against Crystal Palace.

The setback resulted in the 23-year-old missing the Whites’ season-opening 2-1 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers last weekend.

But Marsch confirmed ahead of the victory that Sinisterra was expected to return to full training this week and that a competitive debut could come against Southampton today.

Jones believes that Marsch is happy with his wide options heading into the final stages of the transfer window.

The journalist feels Sinisterra is being viewed as a direct replacement for Raphinha and, as a result, has a big future ahead of him at Elland Road.

When asked whether he expects Leeds to dip into the market for another big-money winger, Jones told GIVEMESPORT: “I don’t really, no.

“Speaking to people around the situation, I think that Sinisterra will be seen over the course of the season to become that kind of catalyst.”
