Leeds: Jesse Marsch prioritising new striker signing at Elland Road

Transfer insider Pete O’Rourke thinks a striker will “definitely” be high up on Leeds United‘s list this summer amid links to Chelsea forward Michy Batshuayi.

Reports suggest that the Yorkshire club could make a move for the Belgian in the upcoming window as Jesse Marsch looks to bolster his squad.

According to TEAMtalk, Batshuayi is set to leave Chelsea in the summer and is currently attracting interest from Leeds.

The same outlet states that Wolves, Everton, Brighton and Southampton are also keen on the 28-year-old, so there could be a real scrap for his signature.

Right now, he is on loan at Besiktas, where he is enjoying a fine campaign having scored 14 goals in 29 league appearances.

In total, Batshuayi has found the back of the net 136 times in his senior career, so whoever lands him will be getting a goalscorer.

With Patrick Bamford having struggled with injuries this season, O’Rourke is confident that Marsch will make signing a new No.9 a priority ahead of the 2022/23 campaign.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, the football journalist said: “Definitely a striker I think would be high up there on Jesse Marsch’s list of priorities because they’ve badly missed Patrick Bamford this season due to his injury problems.”

It is quite clear that Leeds need to buy a new centre-forward, and Batshuayi looks like he could be a really good option.

He knows the Premier League after playing for both Chelsea and Crystal Palace and will probably be available for a reasonable price.

Batshuayi is not a part of Thomas Tuchel’s first-team plans and is out of contract next year, so there is an opportunity here for Leeds.
