Leeds have 'long-standing interest' in £15m Premier League star at Elland Road

Leeds United have a long-standing interest in Southampton striker Che Adams, according to talkSPORT reporter Alex Crook.

The Yorkshire club have recently been linked with the 26-year-old, and Crook says their priority is to bring in a new No.9 before the transfer window closes.

Everton are the team who seem to be really pushing for Adams’ signature right now.

As per The Telegraph, the Scotland international is high on Frank Lampard’s list of targets. The Toffees manager is in desperate need of a new forward following Richarlison’s move to Tottenham and Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s latest injury.

Prior, The Sun had claimed that Leeds were eyeing Adams, who joined Southampton from Birmingham City in a £15m deal just over three years ago.

Adams played the full 90 minutes in Southampton’s last Premier League outing, which came against Leeds, so he is clearly not surplus to requirements at St Mary’s. Nevertheless, it appears that he could still leave the club before September’s transfer deadline.

Crook has told GIVEMESPORT that Leeds’ interest in Adams is not new. The talkSPORT reporter is not sure, though, if they would be willing to meet Southampton’s asking price for the player.

Speaking to GMS, he said: “They’ve got a long-standing interest in Che Adams. Whether they’ll pay the type of money Southampton want is open to debate, but I think if they can bring in another striker, then that is their priority in these last two weeks.”

Probably Everton. As mentioned earlier, he appears to be very high on their shortlist of targets.

He should also get a lot of game time there given their situation in attack, while it remains to be seen if Leeds are willing to get into a bidding war over him.

The Whites have been one of the busiest
