Leeds: Forgotten 22 y/o could now be 'given chance' by Marsch at Elland Road

Leeds star Leif Davis could get an opportunity to help solve the club’s crisis at left-back, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

Jesse Marsch is set to be without both of his senior left-backs ahead of the new Premier League season, and Jones reckons the 22-year-old might get some game-time in their absence.

Leeds have completed some impressive business in the transfer window and look in a strong position heading into their season-opener at Crystal Palace next month.

However, Marsch currently has a slight headache at left-back. Stuart Dallas is facing a long spell on the sidelines after breaking his leg against Manchester City in late April.

His injury allowed Junior Firpo to enjoy a run in the side, but the Brazilian’s inability to stay fit came to the front once more after picking up a knock in the Crystal Palace friendly, which is set to keep him out for around eight weeks.

Therefore, Marsch is facing the prospect of having no senior left-backs available heading into the new season, and Jones reckons Davis, who Leeds have considered selling this window, might get his chance to shine on the big stage.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “They’ve got Leif Davis who’s there, he’ll be given a chance. I’m not convinced they’ll see him as the guy to play there, but I think they could also slot another player into the role short term, I think that’s plausible.”

Marsch recently admitted that he’s been impressed with Davis on Leeds’ pre-season tour of Australia. He said: “We’re looking very closely at Leif Davis, and we think he’s done really well.”
