Leeds now 'quite hopeful' over £25.5m duo at Elland Road

Leeds United are carrying out a ‘full assessment’ on the pre-season injuries sustained by Luis Sinisterra and Adam Forshaw at Thorp Arch this week and are ‘quite hopeful’ that they will not be long-term absentees, according to Sky Sports reporter Tim Thornton.

Whites boss Jesse Marsch is preparing for his first full campaign at the helm, following his appointment as head coach in February, but there are fears that he may be without two key players for the opening stages of the 2022/23 term.

Leeds rounded off their pre-season tour of Australia by playing out a 1-1 draw against Premier League rivals Crystal Palace.

Although the fixture got much-needed minutes into the players’ legs, it saw Sinisterra and Forshaw – who started the encounter – forced off through injury.

Sinisterra only lasted 14 minutes before having to be replaced, while Forshaw made way with 33 minutes on the clock.

Following the pre-season clash, Marsch confirmed that Sinisterra had suffered a hamstring problem and was hopeful that the 23-year-old will not be on the sidelines for a prolonged period.

Marsch also revealed that Forshaw, who has been on Leeds’ books since sealing a £4.5million move from Middlesbrough in 2018, ‘tweaked his knee’ after a coming together with Palace striker Jean-Philippe Mateta.

Thornton understands that Sinisterra and Forshaw are being assessed at Leeds’ Thorp Arch training ground this week.

The Sky Sports reporter believes there are still question marks as to how long either of the Whites stars will be out of contention.

Thornton told GIVEMESPORT: “I think Leeds are quite hopeful that, with both of them, it’s not too serious.

“Obviously, they are back in Leeds now and I’m told they will do a full assessment with them at Thorp
