Leeds could make shock move for 74-goal Premier League star at Elland Road

Leeds are still in the market for a new striker and could be interested in a move for Che Adams, according to talkSPORT reporter Alex Crook.

Jesse Marsch’s side ended their pre-season campaign with a thrilling 6-2 victory over Cagliari, with Patrick Bamford scoring twice, although the ex-Chelsea star remains the club’s only senior frontman.

Leeds have spent upwards of £95m by bringing in six permanent players this summer, but Marsch is still waiting to bolster his frontline with another number nine or a Raphinha replacement.

However, The Sun believe that Leeds are plotting a move for Southampton striker Adams, who could be available for just £10m.

The Scotland international started just over half (23) of Saints’ Premier League games last season, and the report suggests the Yorkshire giants might have a good chance of bringing him to Elland Road.

And Crook reckons that Leeds’ move for Adams is “one to keep an eye” on with less than one month remaining of the transfer window.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “I was told they want to bring in a centre forward and I’ve been told that Southampton could be willing to listen to offers for Che Adams, who’s been on their list before.

“Whether they would meet the asking price I don’t know, but maybe that’s one to keep an eye on.”

Despite 2021-2022 largely proving an underwhelming campaign for Southampton, whose form from February onwards almost saw them dragged into a relegation battle, generally, Adams did himself justice.

According to WhoScored, he was the club’s seventh-best performer, with his seven goals bettered only by James Ward-Prowse.
