Leeds 'actively looking' at new signing after Sinisterra & Adams at Elland Road

Leeds United are ‘definitely actively looking’ to sign a new striker this summer, according to Sky Sports reporter Tim Thornton.

The Whites narrowly avoided relegation from the Premier League last season and have already brought in several acquisitions in an attempt to change their fortunes.

With star midfielder Kalvin Phillips joining Manchester City and talisman Raphinha also seemingly destined for pastures new, it’s set to be a busy summer at Elland Road.

Jesse Marsch has already been able to make his mark on the first-team squad, though, bringing in Brenden Aaronson and Rasmus Kristensen from Red Bull Salzburg, while Marc Roca has arrived from Bayern Munich.

Meanwhile, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has revealed that RB Leipzig midfielder Tyler Adams and Feyenoord winger Luis Sinisterra are also set to join the American’s Leeds revolution.

Yet bringing in a new forward remains a priority for Marsch. Patrick Bamford struggled with injuries throughout 2021/22 and the likes of Rodrigo and Tyler Roberts failed to step up in his absence.

Thornton believes any new forward would play alongside Bamford rather than replace him due to Marsch typically favouring a system containing two up top.

In an interview with GiveMeSport, he said: “They’re definitely actively looking to get a striker in, and the plan is to play the striker alongside Patrick Bamford.

“So, Bielsa liked to play one up front, Jesse Marsch, in his system, will play two up top. So, they’ll look to get a striker.”

The Athletic’s reliable journalist Phil Hay recently reported that Leeds ‘are pursuing’ Charles De Ketelaere of Club Bruges and view him as a secondary striker or false nine.
