Lee Johnson has two Hibs games to save his job and shake off 'Hearts syndrome' to boot – Tam McManus

Let’s not dance around the issue of yet another manager on the brink - Lee Johnson has two games to save his job.

The last thing I’d want to do is call for a manager’s head but if Hibs don’t make the top six then it’s difficult to see how he can survive what will be deemed an abject failure. I don’t know what’s in the water in Edinburgh at the moment (I shudder to think) but my old club has a bit of the Hearts syndrome going on with key players not producing when it matters most.

Johnson is now in Robbie Neilson territory if there isn’t a radical upturn in results and that’s a brutal fact about this business and he’ll know that better than anyone. If Hibs don’t finish in the top six in this season of all seasons then he’ll be a goner and this Premiership is as poor as it’s ever been.

Jim Goodwin was sacked by the team currently occupying third place, Neilson was sacked at a team sitting in fourth so by that barometer, Johnson’s on shaky ground.

Even Motherwell, who are breathing down their necks have sacked two managers this season. Having read Hearts defender’s Stephen Kingsley’s comments on Monday after Neilson had been sacked, you can almost translate his
