Thorsten Fink 'wants' Hearts manager job as Bayern Munich legend makes contact with Tynecastle chiefs

Bayern Munich icon Thorsten Fink is reportedly keen on stepping into the Hearts hot seat at the end of the current campaign.

Steven Naismith has been placed in interim charge at Tynecastle after Robbie Neilson was sacked following a poor run of results, leaving the Jambos facing a battle to claim third spot in the table with Aberdeen overtaking their rivals in the Scottish Premiership race. Naismith got off to a disappointing start during his Hearts tenure with defeat to Hibs, but will hope to make his case to land the job permanently before the end of the campaign.

However, Ann Budge and the Hearts board could be weighing up other candidates and the Edinburgh Evening News report that 55-year-old Fink is "keen" on a move to Gorgie. The Champions League winner has gone on a nomadic managerial journey since hanging up his boots, taking the reins at Hamburg, APOEL, Austria Wien, Vissel Kobe and Riga.

Fink has been out of work since a brief stint at Al Nasr last year and the report suggests "he is one of many coaches harbouring an interest" in the Tynecastle top job. Naismith is expected to remain in the hot seat until the end of the season despite interest.
