Lee Bowyer delivers verdict on the Wolves old boy who has 'handled himself really well' at Birmingham City

Lee Bowyer has praised Jordan Graham for making the transition from winger to defender during Birmingham City’s injury crisis.

The 26-year-old arrived at Blues in the summer with a reputation for creating and scoring goals after a positive season with League One Gillingham.

And there is little doubt that when he gets in advanced positions the former Wolves and Aston Villa trainee delivers an enticing ball into the penalty area.

However, Graham has had to temper those attacking ambitions for most of the season, with Blues ’ shortage of defenders meaning Graham has had to start the last three matches as a full back and most of his 16 appearances coming at wing back.

Graham has spoken of how former Wolves coach - and current Blues' assistant manager, Mark Kennedy has helped him make the transition - but Bowyer says Graham has played his part.

“Mark can give you the right information because he has played in that position, that’s why Mark is here, he is a good coach, he has got good experience, playing wise as well. That’s our job to pass on information to make him better,” the head coach said.

“Mark working with him at Wolves obviously helped, he will know Jordan inside out from working with him day in day out before he came here.

“Jordan who is an out and out winger, his weakness was the defensive side of the game before he came, we have had to play him out of position at times.

“That wing back position, I think that has helped him to now slot in to the right back position, it’s not like you have gone from right wing to right back.

“He has gone from being a winger to a wing back, you have got to do a bit of defensive work as well, and now to slide into an out and out right back. I think he has adjusted and handled
