League One play-off hopes for Bolton Wanderers, Sheffield Wednesday and Sunderland assessed

Bolton Wanderers are in the midst of a seven game unbeaten run which has taken them into the top half of the League One table and the possibility of a late push towards the play-offs.

Wanderers came from behind twice to pick up a huge three points on the road over Oxford United and have since narrowed the gap on the top six to eight points.

Goals from Declan John, Marlon Fossey and Amadou Bakayoko ensured three points on the road and extend the club's unbeaten run to seven games ahead of tomorrow's trip to Burton Albion.

Throughout the campaign, football statistics website FiveThirtyEight is forecasting how the League One table might finish after the results of every matchday, with the season reaching the climax of the regular season at the end of April before the play-offs.

As things stand, Wanderers are tipped to end the season in 10th place, where they currently are right now, and are tipped to have a 16 per cent chance of making the play-offs.

At the top of the table, Rotherham United are still predicted to finish ahead of Wigan Athletic and secure automatic promotion to the Championship.

The play-offs are now tipped to include MK Dons, Sheffield Wednesday, Wycombe Wanderers and Plymouth Argyle, with Sunderland missing out on the top six.

At the foot of the division, Morecambe, Crewe Alexandra, Gillingham and Doncaster Rovers remain the four sides tipped to be playing in League Two next season.
