Lawrence Shankland plays Hearts contract waiting game as ball in club's court over new deal
Lawrence Shankland is waiting for Hearts to table a contract extension.
The Jambos held initial discussions with the Scotland star's representatives last week and want to extend his deal beyond the end of next season. Hearts top scorer has always made it clear he was open to discussions and it has now been left for Tynecastle chiefs to get together and come back with a suitable offer.
The 28-year-old has been the Hearts captain this season and his 18 goals have been massive in firing the club clear in third place. Shankland has been linked with a number of clubs in recent weeks but Hearts have made it clear they are not looking to sell in January. Hearts signed the frontman from Belgian side Beerschot in 2022 and since then he has become a key player.
His main focus between now and the summer is to do as well as he can for Hearts and to see if he can make Steve Clarke's Scotland squad for Euro 2024.
