Latest Strictly Come Dancing star to leave says dance partner 'offered to slap' him

Fresh from losing the Strictly Come Dancing dance-off, Krishnan Guru-Murthy has appeared on Strictly: It Takes Two and revealed a pretty shocking detail about Sunday (November 12) night. The 53-year-old newsreader and his dance partner Lauren Oakley danced a samba for their survival to Bamboleo by Gipsy Kings.

Sadly, they were to leave the show the week before the Blackpool special after the judges saw 79-year-old broadcaster Angela Rippon and partner Kai Widdrington dance the paso doble to Hung Up by Madonna. Krishnan said on Sunday: “Look, this has been the most incredible experience. I said it has been life-changing and it genuinely has."

But speaking on Strictly: It Takes Two tonight (Monday), the Channel 4 presenter revealed all about those nervy minutes when the red light falls on a duo and they know they have to dance for their Strictly lives.

Krishnan told presenter Fleur East: "By the time you get to the red light, you've had time to think about it. All your tension and all your adrenaline has gone because you've already danced.

"You've got to wind yourself back up, get yourself in the zone."

Krishnan then revealed that Lauren had a novel method to help him focus, revealing, "She actually offered to slap me across the face".

Lauren was quick to jump in: "Not in a mean way, because he said 'I really need to wake up' and I was like, 'do you want me to slap you?"

Fans were sad to see the pair get kicked off, taking to X - formerly known as Twitter - to express their affection for them.
