Latest Man City injury news as Jack Grealish return date hint dropped ahead of Chelsea opener

Manchester City's full focus is now on the new Premier League campaign after their pre-season came to an end on Saturday at Wembley Stadium.

The Blues won the Community Shield in dramatic fashion with a 7-6 penalty shootout victory over Manchester United. In normal time, City drew 1-1 with Bernardo Silva's late header cancelling out Alejandro Garnacho's opener seven minutes before.

Unfortunately for Bernardo, his look went downhill fast as his penalty was saved by Andre Onana. Fortunately, Ederson was able to level things back up thanks to a terrific save from Jadon Sancho's effort.

With the Community Shield in the trophy cabinet, attention turns to Chelsea next weekend and sadly City have an injury concern ahead of the game.

Shortly before the clash at Wembley, information circulated that Grealish would not be featuring with sources claiming he is 'not fully fit'. The issue which the winger is suffering with is unclear but he appeared in high spirits as he wished his teammates well on social media.

Taking to Instagram, he wrote: "Come on the boys [light blue heart emojis] Gutted to not be out there today but will hopefully be back as soon as possible [light blue heart emoji]." Of course, Grealish is now in a race against the clock to be back in time for the opening fixture at Chelsea on Sunday, August 18, despite the winger hinting that he'll be back 'as soon as possible'.
