Large police presence in Salford after someone paints personal details on wall

Police have swarmed on a street in Salford after reports of criminal damage.

An eyewitness reported seeing several police vehicles, and around twenty uniformed officers in the area of Oldfield Road, Salford, at around 1.30pm today, August 18. Part of the street had been cordoned off, with officers working in the area.

The Manchester Evening News understands the complaint focuses around a wall, which someone's personal details have been painted onto in large letters. The publication has chosen not to include any of those details in this report.

One eyewitness said there were five vehicles, including two police vans, stationed at the scene earlier this afternoon, with part of a wall alongside the pavement adjacent to the road being taped off by officers, using their vans to stop people from using the pavement where the grafiti is.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said: "We’ve been responding to a report of criminal damage of an address on Oldfield Road, Salford. Enquiries are ongoing and no arrests have been made. Any information should be passed to us quoting incident 1275 of 18/08/2022."
