Cricket club loses licence as two men charged after police raid
A cricket club has lost its alcohol licence while two men have been charged following a raid last month. Greater Manchester Police stormed Burnage Cricket Club, on Mauldeth Road, on Friday, August 5.
A samurai sword, an axe and knuckledusters were allegedly recovered from the site, in Burnage. GMP says a quantity of drugs and a banned breed of dog were also found at the premises.
Burnage Cricket Club was subject to a licensing hearing at Manchester council on Wednesday, August 31. Following the hearing, the cricket club lost its licence to sell alcohol with immediate effect.

Three men were arrested during the raid last month, and two have since been charged. The third man, who was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply, has been released under investigation.
James Todd, 18, of Heathside Road, Manchester was charged with possession of cannabis and has been remanded in custody on a separate matter for other offences. Michael Mcmahon, 32, of Elsa Road, Manchester was also charged with possession of an offensive weapon.
GMP says civil action is being taken in relation to the banned breed of dog that was seized. The owner has not received the dog back and is required to attend a trial date at Civil Court.
