Lanark Amateur Swimming Club stars make waves at North Ayrshire meet
Five Lanark ASC swimmers took an incredible 17 medals from the North Ayrshire 200 meet in Irvine.
And a further 10 swimmers posted personal best times at the East Kilbride Graded Meet.
At the competition at the Portal in Irvine, Emily Taylor, 12, won the butterfly, freestyle and individual medley, finishing second also in the backstroke and third in breaststroke.
In the 13-year-old age group, Evi Mackie won all eight of her races, comprising of five 200m events and the 400m free, 1500m free and 400m IM.
Mackie set new club records in the fly and freestyle, and a new meet record in the IM.
In the same age group, Orlaith Jeffrey was third in butterfly.
There was a breaststroke double for 15-year-olds Katie Towers and Craig Shaw.
Towers also finished second in the 200m backstroke.
Lucy Taylor posted five personal best times, and Blair Beverley one.
Coach Karen Kelly said: “It was another successful weekend for the club.
“It was great to see our young girls tackle the distance events, especially the 400m IM.
“Some of the swims were consideration times for the Nationals in April, so that was very satisfying.”
At the East Kilbride Graded meet at Dollan Aqua Centre, Scout MacGillivray, Sarah Purdon, Clara Taylor, Kallie Thomson, Amelia Williams, Caitriona Dunlop, Rebecca Lloyd, Clara McMahon, Erin Purdon and Ethan Devlin all posted personal best times, as well as bringing home two ‘Swam Too Fast’ and .top-three finish’ medals.
