Lampard has "managed to find a way" to transform £34m Everton disaster - journalist

Everton manager Frank Lampard has managed to find a way to make Alex Iwobi more “effective”, says Daily Star journalist Paul Brown.

The Nigerian has been afforded a lot of opportunities under Lampard, and Brown believes that he is repaying the faith shown in him by the Toffees boss.

Iwobi can be pleased with what he has contributed during Lampard’s reign at Goodison Park so far. It was the 26-year-old who, of course, scored that all-important winner in the 1-0 win against Newcastle United in March.

In total, Iwobi has made 10 starts in the Premier League under his new manager, quickly becoming someone who he trusts.

Across those 10 appearances, the winger has played in midfield when required to, sacrificing himself for the team at a time where they cannot afford any prima donnas.

Iwobi and Everton will now be looking to build on that incredible 1-0 win against Chelsea last weekend when they take on Leicester City on Sunday.

Brown thinks Lampard is getting a real tune out of Iwobi at the moment, telling GIVEMESPORT that the Nigeria international is starting to be more influential in games.

Speaking to GMS, the Daily Star reporter said: “Lampard’s managed to find a way to get him into that midfield and make him a bit more effective. He needs a goal really. He needs a little run of confidence in front of goal to get him going, but he’s never been that prolific.”

As Brown alluded to, the next step for Iwobi is probably scoring goals. It is an area he has struggled in at Everton since making that £34m move from Arsenal back in 2019.
