Kyogo misses Celtic training as shoulder injury doubt puts Adam Idah on standby for second debut

Doubts have emerged over Kyogo Furuhashi's fitness after he was posted missing from training

The Celtic striker needed treatment on his shoulder after it popped out during last weekend's 2-0 Premiership victory over Hibs at Easter Road after landing awkwardly on it. He was able to continue after the medical team put in back into place, but was eventually subbed off. The Japanese attacker has suffered from shoulder issues before, and the worry in Leith was that his absence would leave Brendan Rodgers without a recognised striker.

Those fears have since been allayed with the permanent capture of Adam Idah after the Hoops agreed a deal worth up to £9.5million to bring him back to Parkhead from Norwich City. And now there's a chance he could be pitched in from the start this weekend when Celtic take on the Hibees for a second week in succession on Premier Sports Cup duty.

Kyogo was nowhere to be seen during the open segment of Friday's training session. That's sparked fears that he won't be available for Sunday's game, which could see Idah lead the line and make his second Bhoys debut.

Rodgers said after last Sunday's game: "His shoulder popped out. I think it’s just one of those ones that he had an awkward fall and it knocked it out. The guys put it back in again, but he felt the soreness. I don’t need to risk him."
