Celtic turf out £10m Hatate bid, Trusty latest, Engels final push and Bogusz deal is off

Celtic have reportedly turfed out a £10million bid from a club in France for Reo Hatate and told the star midfielder he is not for sale.

The Premiership champions have no interest in letting the Japan international leave and the Daily Mail state a club in Ligue 1 were given it straight just like Zenit were amid interest from Leicester City. Hatate will remain at Parkhead. Meanwhile, Celtic have launched a club record-breaking £10m bid for Arne Engels and are ready to up the ante to £6m in their move for Auston Trusty. The Hoops have gone big for Augsburg midfielder Engels.

The deal would eclipse the £9m they paid for Odsonne Edouard, although that could be dwarfed by Adam Idah’s recent move, if a number of add-ons are triggered. Celtic have already had two offers turned down for Engels but are looking to get a deal done for the Belgian under-21 international before Friday's deadline. Augsburg boss Jess Thorup admitted Engels’ situation could change before Friday, although he hoped he would remain at Augsburg. Thorup said: “I heard about the rumours. “I don’t know what will happen in the last couple of days.”

Personal terms have already been agreed with the 20-year-old, who is known to be keen to make the move to Scotland and to play in the Champions League. Brendan Rodgers had identified Engels as the man he wanted to replace Matt O’Riley, who joined Brighton for £25m earlier this week.

Celtic have also made a new offer for Sheffield United’s defender Trusty. Record Sport broke the story of their £5m bid on Monday. Celtic improved their offer by £500,000 and it was also turned down.
