Kyle Walker reveals what Pep Guardiola 'hates' as he outlines Man City target

Kyle Walker has explained what Pep Guardiola 'hates' to see in possession from his star-studded Manchester City team as they continue to target elusive European honours this season. Walker is currently on the road to recovery with a minor injury that means he's unlikely to face Wolves on Saturday lunchtime (12.30pm).

The 32-year-old missed Champions League victories over Sevilla and Borussia Dortmund with an unspecified issue which should right itself over the coming days. Walker is then expected to return and play a key role - for club and country - as he bids to add to his trophy collection this campaign.

Having won the Premier League four times in the last five years, success in Europe is City's primary target this term, while England and Walker are gunning to atone for their near miss at Euro 2020 when they get down to business in Qatar for the unique World Cup finals which are set to split the season in two.

During an interview with Football Focus presenter Alex Scott filmed for the popular BBC Sport show, Walker was asked how his game has developed at City. He said: "Experience, knowledge of the game and actually me wanting to understand the game [better].

"Some things you hear the gaffer saying here, you think, 'Why is everyone not saying that?' It can be something so simple where he wants a third man to set the ball.

"We always got told to be on the half turn - he hates it. You see the ball can run as you may see Kevin [De Bruyne] doing a lot of the time... where he lets the ball slide across him, but he [Guardiola] thinks that you should set it and play a third man because it's quicker."
