Kyle Hayes out of Limerick panel to face Tipperary
Kyle Hayes has dropped out of the Limerick match-day panel to face Tipperary in the Allianz Hurling League on Saturday (live on RTÉ2), but there is a return for some of the Treaty big-hitters.
Five-time All-Ireland winner Hayes made his first appearance of the season in the comfortable Croke Park victory over Dublin last time out, but is not part of John Kiely's 26-man squad to face the Premier County.
The 25-year-old was found guilty by a jury in December of two counts of violent disorder inside and outside a Limerick nightclub in October 2019, a charge he denied.
Sentencing was adjourned until 20 March, when the four-time All-Star will learn whether he is to serve a custodial sentence.
Current Hurler of the Year Aaron Gillane, and two-time winner of the award Cian Lynch are poised for their first starts of the season, while Peter Casey is named at corner-forward.
There are five changes in total from the side that eased past the Dubs.
Saturday night’s clash pits the two sides from 1B with 100% records up against each other, with the winners at SuperValu Páirc Ui Chaoimh into the semi-finals.
Limerick: Nickie Quaid; Fergal O'Connor, Dan Morrissey, Mike Casey; Diarmaid Byrnes, Cathal O'Neill, Colin Coughlan; Will O'Donoghue, Darragh O'Donovan; Gearoid Hegarty, Cian Lynch, Conor Boylan; Aaron Gillane, Donnacha O Dalaigh, Peter Casey.
