KTM capitalises at wet Mandalika MotoGP race as Binder brothers impress

MotoGP returned to the Indonesian Mandalika circuit after an absence of 25 years this weekend.

Following a delay of just more than an hour due to rain, the premier class finally got under way in less than ideal conditions.

With no prior opportunity to ride in the wet over the weekend, riders were forced to start the race on wet weather tyres and an unproven bike setup.

Monster Energy Yamaha's Fabio Quartararo capitalised on his pole position but soon came under pressure from Red Bull KTM rider Miguel Oliveira and Jack Miller, riding for the factory Ducati team.

Miller then took the lead on the second lap and slowly pulled a gap on the chasing pack along with Oliveira.

Oliveira took the lead on lap five and built up a gap of more than three seconds by lap ten. Oliveira held on to take the chequered flag ahead of Quartararo, who fought his way back up the field in the closing stages of the races, and Frenchman Johann Zarco in third.

"It is so difficult to find the grip limit in the wet, and it was really not easy," said an ecstatic Oliveira.

Brad Binder had recorded his best ever qualifying position on Saturday, with the fourth-fastest time. Binder, however, tumbled down the order to cross the line in 11th at
