Kobbie Mainoo Man United transfer priority set as star sent major Ruben Amorim demand

Manchester United ended the Janaury transfer window with just two new additions to Ruben Amorim's squad.

Patrick Dorgu's arrival from Lecce and Ayden Heaven's signing from Arsenalcould potentially mark the start of a bright new era at Old Trafford under the Portuguese. Diego Leon, meanwhile, has joined from Paraguayan side Cerro Porteno, although due to regulations put in place after Brexit, he won't be at the club until at least his 18th birthday.

And United will hope to have new signings involved in their next fixture after Sunday's poor 2-0 defeat at home to Crystal Palace. Amorim's side will continue their FA Cup defence at home to Leicester City on Friday evening (kick-off: 8pm), with Foxes boss Ruud van Nistelrooy returning after a spell as interim manager earlier this season.

Man United are reportedly turning their attention towards convincing Kobbie Mainoo to sign a new contract at the club. Mainoo has been linked with a move to Chelsea and has a contract at United until 2027.

GIVEMESPORT claim Amorim is pushing for an agreement with Ineos reportedly looking to secure Mainoo's long-term future at the Reds as a priority.

Isaac Seelochan of The Manchester Evening News says: "Keeping Mainoo is a must. Ineos are quickly losing any goodwill they may have had after taking control of footballing decisions, but that will all but evaporate if the club's star academy graduate departs."
