Kieran Tierney to Newcastle hits transfer turbulence as Eddie Howe A-list blows up after FFP bombshell

Hardline Newcastle will reportedly not pay Arsenal £30million for top target Kieran Tierney as the reality of their transfer situation takes hold in the north east.

Eddie Howe wants the Scotland international, however, the Toon are on the verge of blowing up their marquee signing wishlist which also includes Leverkusen standout Moussa Diaby and RB Leipzig playmaker Dominik Szoboszlai. But strict FFP rules appear primed to put paid to an exorbitant summer splash for a side with a net spend of £250million over the past three transfer windows.

And their new-found signing reality is likely to force Newcastle into concessions and that could end their long-running interest in the Arsenal star who appeared primed to exit north London after being forced into a reduced role, as Mikel Arteta's side pushed for the title before coming up short.

Howe has made it clear he wants "elite" signings this summer but that task for him and Dan Ashworth is made difficult due to their complicated current situation in the signing market. Leicester City playmaker James Maddison remains coveted by Howe but relegated Leicester want in excess of £60m.

The Telegraph insists reports of a set budget of £75m is not set in stone because the Saudi-backed club have gone above and beyond in recent windows. But it is clear Howe is set to face decisions over the moves he pulls the trigger on in the coming weeks.
