Khamzat Chimaev vs Gilbert Burns Predictions: Pro Fighters Give Their Picks

Khamzat Chimaev vs Gilbert Burns is one of the most anticipated contests on the UFC 273 card, and pro fighters have now given their predictions ahead of the 170-pound fight.

The #11 ranked Welterweight Chimaev will be looking to break into the top 10 with the biggest win of his career against Burns.

Burns will be hoping to derail the hype train that is Chimaev, but MMA fans, and probably Dana White himself, will be hoping that another genuine Welterweight challenger emerges this weekend to eventually take on Kamaru Usman.

The UFC Featherweight Champion and one half of the UFC 273 main event Alexander Volkanovski gave his prediction for the fight whilst speaking to BJPenn.com: “I see Chimaev, he truly is the real deal and people will be blown away by his performance against Burns. I have a feeling he will be able to manhandle him.”

Ian Garry also gave his opinion on this weekend’s clash, again speaking to BJPenn.com about the 170-pound showdown.

He said: “Dude, it’s a huge fight. Gilbert is an animal and then you have Khamzat who is the most talked-about fighter and no one really knows how good he is. 

“It’s a tough fight for both guys because a wrestler vs a grappler is always tough but it’s interesting. Both guys are going to bang, and I don’t think Khamzat isn’t scared of Gilbert’s grappling and Gilbert isn’t scared of Khamzat’s wrestling. 

“Obviously, I think Khamzat goes out there and smashes him but I don’t think it’s an easy fight for either guy.”
