Khamzat Chimaev teases Kamaru Usman for Canelo Alvarez pursuit

UFC star Khamzat Chimaev isn’t particularly impressed by Kamaru Usman’s boxing skills as his pursuit of a fight against Canelo Alvarez continues.

Right now there are very few fighters in the UFC with as much buzz around them as Khamzat Chimaev. The man known as ‘Borz’ is 4-0 in the promotion and with those wins spread across welterweight and middleweight, it shouldn’t come as much of a surprise that he’s already being billed as someone who could become a champ-champ one day.

Of course, fans need to take things one step at a time, which is why we’re all waiting for more evidence before dubbing him the king of the mountain.

Usman, meanwhile, has spent considerable time establishing himself as one of the greatest welterweights of all time.

Given what he’s achieved it makes sense for him to aim high and in the last couple of months, he’s been shooting for a showdown with the great Canelo Alvarez.

Alvarez is currently preparing to take on Dmitry Bivol but later in the year, Usman is hoping to get the call for what would certainly be the biggest payday of his career.

Khamzat Chimaev, though, has used recent training footage of ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ to mock him on social media.

“Canelo should be very afraid this is the guy to knock him out”

Canelo would clearly be the favourite but if Usman can actually get this booked, the financial rewards would certainly outweigh the severity of a defeat.

Kamaru Usman will defend his UFC welterweight title this summer when he battles Leon Edwards, as confirmed by UFC president Dana White. While a lot of folks are writing Edwards off, his impressive unbeaten streak is enough to convince anyone that he’s deserving of his shot.

Chimaev has a big welterweight test of his own coming up at UFC
