KFC backtrack over shock Kylian Mbappe claim as they aim to call an end to the fast feud

KFC France have moved to distance themselves over shock comments from their vice president the fast food behemoth could potentially sue Kylian Mbappe.

It comes amid the Paris Saint-Germain superstar not taking part in the full range of France national team's sponsorship commitments – which includes a media promotion in aid of chicken king the Colonel. But Alain Beral's stunning claim KFC could seek damages, although it's unclear if he meant Mbappe or the FFF, has led to the company releasing a hastily-arranged statement.

And they made it clear Beral's views are not representative of the company's stance and their long-standing relationship with the reigning World Cup champions. It read: "KFC France regrets the words that were spoken yesterday and reported in the media this morning. These are personal opinions, but in no way reflect the position of the company.

"KFC France also wishes to clarify that Alain Beral did not speak on behalf of the company, but in the context of a private conversation during an event related to his functions as president of the National Basketball League.

"The partnership between KFC and the French Football Federation (FFF) has always been a source of pride for the company. KFC France has every confidence in the FFF's ability to find satisfactory solutions for all of its partners and players, including Kylian Mbappe, whose supporters we are among the first in France."
