Key transfer update emerges on Derby County player

Derby County midfielder Jason Knight is certain to leave Pride Park during the summer following their relegation to League One, as per a report from Independent.ie.

The 21-year-old has been a key cog in the Rams’ machine this term, recording two goals and three assists in 34 league appearances as he’s played a big part in the second-tier side’s brave fight for survival.

But following their late loss against Queens Park Rangers and Reading’s remarkable comeback against Swansea City, it’s no longer possible for his side to make up the deficit with Wayne Rooney’s men officially being relegated to the third tier of English football.

Departures of some of their most prized assets are likely to come with that with the East Midlands outfit needing to adapt to life in League One – and Knight is one man who will be one of the favourites to move on after establishing himself as a versatile operator at his current side.

As per The Times back in January, he was almost certain to be sold on then with Burnley, Leeds United and Newcastle United thought to have been pursuing his signature, but it looks as though his time at Pride Park will be up in the summer.

According to the Independent.ie report, a whole host of Premier League and Championship clubs are monitoring his situation in the Midlands ahead of a potential summer move, with his contract expiring in the summer of 2023.
