‘Key point’ - Ruben Amorim sends upbeat message of defiance to Manchester United fans
Ruben Amorim is confident Manchester United can succeed under his watch and wants to foster a siege mentality at Old Trafford.
The United head coach has given his first in depth interview since being appointed and used it to send a message to the club's fans.
The 39-year-old's first match in charge is away at Ipswich Town in the Premier League on Sunday week before his Old Trafford debut against Bodo/Glimt in the Europa League. And Amorim wants everyone to be united behind the club in a bid to restore the club to former glories.

Speaking to MUTV, Amorim said: "The first thing is that I'm really honoured to be here. It was my only choice because I think I really feel the how big this club is. And then I will do everything for the team.
"I will defend my players if I have to, all the time against everybody. That is a key point for me, and I will try to do everything to put this club in the place that it belongs. And I believe a lot that we are going to succeed."
And Amorim, when speaking about the reasons behind his decision to leave table-topping Sporting for United, added: "And of course, because of the fans, because in Portugal you listen a lot, a lot of stuff from the media. But when you see the games here, when you see the games, the interaction with the managers, with the players, even in difficult moments, I think it is a special club. So, it's a lot of reasons. But the first reason is because it is a club with a great history."
