Kevin Lerena ready for ring, confident to prove his worth: 'I fear no man'

South African boxer Kevin Lerena believes he can bring his heavyweight title back to South Africa ahead of his fight against Poland's Mariusz Wach on Saturday.

When it comes to boxing, the International Boxing Federation recognises but a single champion in the heavyweight division.

Lerena, who is an Under Armour athlete, is known as known as the ‘Golden Boy of SA Boxing’ and holds seven IBO Cruiserweight title seven times.

He will take on Wach in Johannesburg with all 1000 seats sold out at the 'Lights Out' tournament at Emperors Palace.

Lerena believes he is ready to honour South African boxing with his fighting spirit.

"I'm South Africa's warrior and as a Top 10 heavyweight contender I will prove my worth in the ring," he said.

"I fear no man - I'm not intimidated at all. It's just a fight and on the night skills win."

At 106 kg and 1.85m tall, Lerena believes he has the ability to eliminate with precision execution as his opponents under-estimate his skills and he keeps his mental, physical and emotional well-being in check.

"I pick my punches as I move around the ring because skills pay the bills. To top this mental preparedness goes hand-in-hand to achieve exponential results," said Lerena

"I train two to three times a day; 90 minutes in the boxing gym, 60 minutes in the conditioning gym and 45 minutes on the treadmill, road or track.

"Now as a heavyweight, I supplement this with a balanced nutritional eating performance-inspired foods only, anything that aids to a better performance!

"I visualise the win and continuously play the fight over in my head, especially while training as this helps me be prepared for whatever my opponent brings. And I'd like to remind my fans that my professional boxing record stands at 27 wins,
