Erling Haaland proves he’s unstoppable as Man City take 4-0 half-time lead v Man Utd

Erling Haaland continued his magnificent start to life at Manchester City with a ruthless display against Manchester United on Sunday afternoon.

The Norwegian, who cost City £51 million from Borussia Dortmund, netted two goals before half-time as City went into the break 3-0 up.

Phil Foden was also on the scoresheet as Pep Guardiola’s side tormented their neighbours at the Etihad Stadium.

City were without several key players for the first Manchester derby of the season including Rodri, Kalvin Philips and John Stones.

For Man United, Cristiano Ronaldo was named on the bench again by Ten Hag, who started with September’s Player of the Month Marcus Rashford leading the line.

City almost took the lead inside four minutes but some heroic last-ditch defending from Scott McTominay prevented United from going 1-0 down on that occasion.

However, Foden had the ball in the visitors’ net moments later, sweeping home Bernardo Silva’s cross in style from close range.

Ten Hag was seen shaking his head in disappointment on the touchline and the Dutchman’s side almost went 2-0 down in the 18th minute when Ilkay Gundogan skimmed the outside of David de Gea’s post with a free-kick.

But by half-time City were 4-0 up thanks to Haaland, who netted his 15th and 16th goals of the campaign with a towering heading followed by a stretched finish from Kevin De Bruyne’s excellent pass.
