Kevin De Bruyne trains individually before Man City vs Yokohama after hamstring injury

Kevin De Bruyne trained away from his Manchester City teammates on Saturday ahead of the Blues' first friendly of their pre-season tour.

City take on Yokohama on Sunday in Tokyo, but look set to be without talisman De Bruyne against their City Football Group sister club.

De Bruyne limped out of the Champions League final before admitting he had been playing with an injured hamstring for two months as he led City to the Premier League title, FA Cup and to the Champions League final in Istanbul.

He looked set for a spell on the sidelines, but was included in the travelling squad to Japan and South Korea for the pre-season tour. Ahead of the first friendly, however, De Bruyne was working individually and away from his teammates preparing for the game.

In total, 24 of City's 25-man squad trained at the National Stadium in Japan, including new signing Mateo Kovacic and a newly-bald Bernardo Silva.

De Bruyne watched on from the sidelines, chatting with medical staff while on an exercise bike, placing his involvement in the Yokohama friendly in serious doubt.

After the Champions League final, De Bruyne said of his injury: “I’ve been struggling for two months but it was all small ruptures. Today [the Champions League final] the hamstring just snapped.

"I give everything for my team and the people in the club know that. I feel proud that I’ve been able to do what I did. It’s a shame that it went the way it did for me today but we go away winning the Champions League so there’s nothing bad.

“I actually felt all right this week but I’ve been told for two months there’s a possibility I was at risk, but you take it. I did what I had to do.
