Kevin De Bruyne next club, wildcard option, Man City decision and £100million transfer wish
Manchester City and Kevin De Bruyne will part ways in a matter of weeks.
The midfielder announced on Friday that this will be his last season at the Etihad after a glittering career which has seen him light up the Premier League and win every major honour. But over the last 18 months, injuries and age have seemingly caught up with the 33-year-old and with no new contract offer on the table, De Bruyne will move on come the summer.
So what next for the brilliant Belgian? And what next for City? Our writers have their say
I think it is important to say that the decision was taken by the club, so it is not that De Bruyne has decided to leave it is that the club have told De Bruyne that we will not be renewing your contract which suggests the club no longer believe he could offer what he could.
They like Wirtz at Leverkusen a lot, he would be a very good signing and a very Pep signing. They have had a lot of success from the Bundesliga, not least Kevin De Bruyne.
In terms of De Bruyne, has got interest from the US and Saudi, I don't know if a third option is just not playing? Does he need to play. He basically sacrificed his City career for the Treble, played two months with a battered hamstring and he has never been the same since. He has got so many minutes in his legs.
Would he want to go to a lesser league? because he is a guy who has always played at the highest level, and where would he play? I would expect him to go somewhere, the US probably over Saudi but it wouldn't surprise me if he said enough is enough because he has had an amazing career, has won everything there is to win and is a smart guy so won't struggle after football.
